Cross Country

Cross country competition is open to everyone. The season runs from September to March. Cross country training sessions are held at East Carlton park at 11am on Saturday mornings from September, led by Corby AC Coach Bill Boyd. Charlie McConnell also leads endurance training at West Glebe Park on Saturdays at 10am. All Corby members are welcome to attend. There is no cost for these sessions.

Many track and field athletes participate in cross country races during the Winter to build stamina and strength for the Summer season. The ‘Seniors’ are U17 upwards and the ‘Juniors’ all ages below U17. John Montgomery managers the ‘Seniors’. Coaches circulate details of cross country competitions and encourage athletes in their groups to take part in appropriate events. The season includes county, regional and national championships, for example the North Midlands league which has 4 matches. Corby AC organises an event at West Glebe Park every other year.

Some competitions require qualification. For more information on cross country please contact Bill Boyd (between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday) on 07970 812177 .   Bill is also contactable on email at billandcarol.boyd@ntlworld.com but please do allow a few days to receive your reply.

Corby AC is affiliated to UK Athletics, England Athletics, Midland Counties AA and Northamptonshire AA. Corby AC was the first athletics club in Northamptonshire to win the coveted Clubmark status, Sport England’s accreditation scheme for high quality community sports clubs.
